AU Park (American University Park), is a sought after neighborhood in Northwest DC., and home to the Chancery of the Embassy of Japan, Turtle Park, Georgetown Day School, and a portion of the 84-acre campus of American University (the main bulk of the campus lies in the neighboring, Spring Valley). AU Park is a close-in neighborhood with quiet streets lined with mature trees and renovated homes with cozy front porches. It's a family-friendly community full of activities such as little league and basketball, with playgrounds and picnicking areas in Turtle Park.

The AU Park borders include the Maryland border to the Northwest, and Massachusetts, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Western Avenues. Tenleytown and FriendshipHeights to the east, EmbassyPark to the southeast, and Spring Valley to the southwest.

AU Park Homes

Homes in AU Park are mostly refurbished, single family dwellings from the 1930's, including large brick Colonials, with some Cape Cods, tudors and bungalows. It's common to see newer second floor or rear addtions on many of these homes. The neighborhood has a combination of long term, well established residents and young families. Average house prices start from $600,000 extending to over $1.6 million. There are very few condos or co-ops here.

The retail district north of Massachusetts Avenue and 48th Street and nearby Wisconsin Avenue, break up the single family residential area with shops, banks, grocery stores, restaurants and entertainment venues. The Tenleytown and Friendship Heights Metro Stations are conveniently located closeby making it easy for commuters to get downtown.
