Chevy Chase Homes

Some of the oldest homes in Chevy Chase were built straight out of the Sears catalog during a time when house kits were widely available. A designated historic district, homeowners must seek permission from the D.C. Planning Department's Historic Preservation Office before making alterations to the building's exterior.

Most of the homes are single family, but some condominiums, townhomes, and apartment buildings are available, especially along Connecticut Avenue and Military Road. Chevy Chase is a bit more affluent than American University Park, with prices for single family homes ranging from $500,000 to almost $3 million, and condos ranging from the mid $200,000's to about $3 million.

In addition to residential real estate, Chevy Chase has an active retail sector along Connecticut and Wisconsin Avenues with unique independently owned shops and restaurants. Chevy Chase residents are walking distance to the red line of the undergound METRO and the buses of Connecticut Ave.
