Forest Hills Homes
Forest Hills real estate is a patchwork quilt of architectural styles. Some of Washington's oldest and newest homes - Tudors and Colonials stand almost side by side with ultramodern glass creations. Nearby, rows of small 1940's and 50's Cape Cods and split levels are also common. This variety of styles add to the ambiance of Forest Hills, and most residents enjoy the varying designs.
It's not unusual to see houses vacant for months of the year since many are merely second homes for their affluent owners. Forest Hills is not a very walkable neighborhood due to lack of sidewalks, but it still manages to have a sociable, neighborly atmosphere.
Forest Hills home prices start in the $600,000's but climb into the millions.
In addition to single family homes, Forest Hills also contains condos and co-ops. Probably the most well known is the Van Ness Centre. This complex of four high-rises dating back to the 1960's is a combination of co-ops, condos, rental properties and commercial units containing a Giant grocery, pharmacy, offices and additional retail.
